Emotional effects of Rosacea

THE EMOTIONAL EFFECTS OF ROSACEA

Red, bumpy skin and painfully swollen eyelids are the visible signs of rosacea, however, it is the emotional impact of rosacea that some believe may be hardest to bear.

A survey of rosacea sufferers found the condition had:

  • Lowered their self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Made them cancel social engagements and avoid public contact.
  • Negatively affected their professional interactions and even caused them to miss work.
There is good news. A majority of people polled also said medical treatment improved their emotional and social well-being. Don't suffer in silence! Talk to your dermatologist about available treatment options, such as MetroGel® 1%. Don't have a dermatologist? The DermFinder® directory can locate one near you.
