How does MetroGel® 1% differ from MetroGel® 0.75%?
MetroGel® 1% has a higher concentration of metronidazole, the active ingredient in both products, and is indicated for once-a-day use, whereas MetroGel® 0.75% is indicated for twice-a-day use.
I have been using MetroGel® 0.75% but would like to try MetroGel® 1%?
A prescription is needed for MetroGel® 1%, so be sure to consult your doctor.
How much MetroGel® 1% should I apply to my skin?
Follow the directions your doctor gives you on how to use your medication. Typically, you should apply a pea-sized amount onto the tip of your finger and rub into affected area(s) of your skin.
Should I stop taking MetroGel® 1% once my face starts to clear?
No, continue using MetroGel® 1% for the full prescribing period or per your doctor’s instructions.
Will MetroGel® 1% dry out my skin?
While the gel in MetroGel® 1% may make you feel like you have a dry film on your skin, it’s actually water-based which helps keep your skin from losing moisture. What skin care products are most recommended?
We recommend gentle fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers that contain no oil or perfumes that can actually irritate your skin. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

MetroGel® 1% is indicated for the topical treatment of the inflammatory lesions of rosacea. The following adverse experiences have been reported with the topical use of metronidazole: burning, skin irritation, dryness, transient redness, metallic taste, tingling or numbness of extremities and nausea. MetroGel® 1% gel is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any other ingredients in this formulation.
